July 3– No meeting

July 10Mike Bennett , assistant to the Hickory City Manager and acting Transit manager discussed the Piedmont Wagon bus service in Hickory and Catawba County.  After a decline in ridership to about 9800 riders/month last year, a change in routes and schedules has brought ridership back up to approximately 12000 riders per month. The system has four new buses for the regular routes and additional vans for customers living off the main routes. These can be scheduled for pickups one day in advance.

Much of the funding for the system is from state and federal sources.
